Responding to our international call to the global arts and culture community, acclaimed artist and photographer MICHEL COMTE is the first high-profile artist to join this new initiative. Comte’s artistic response to our rapidly changing climate comes in the form of BLACK LIGHT, a large-scale multimedia installation in the Arctic. As part of the installation Comte will call out to all local and international sailors to come witness the event in a global climate vigil.

Along-time vocal advocate for critical environmental thinking, Michel Comte has dedicated large parts of his career to environmental and humanitarian causes. As a war photographer, he worked with the International Red Cross, and has travelled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Sudan and Cambodia on assignments. A keen climber, Comte has been documenting glaciers around the world for the past 30 years. He recently presented three major multimedia exhibitions directly connected to climate change: Light at MAXXI museum in Rome (November 2017); Black Light, White Light at the Triennale di Milano (November 2017); and Light III at Galerie Urs Meile in Beijing (May 2018).
